
KATHY ANN SHEA WILLISTON - Kathy Ann Shea, 52, of Williston, died peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her loving sons and companion, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Bennington on July 19, 1956, the daughter of Robert F. and Jessie (Fenn) Shea. Kathy was a graduate of Mt. Anthony Union High School in Bennington, class of 1974. She then received a registered nurse degree from Mary Hitchcock Hospital School of Nursing in 1978. She began her nursing career at Southwestern Medical Center in Bennington, then a nurse at the Austine School for the Deaf in Brattleboro and for the past several years as the school nurse with the Williston School District. Kathy was an avid traveler and often visited Europe, Hawaii and the Caribbean. She enjoyed the outdoors, biking, swimming, golf, rowing, sailing, and the beach. She had a close-knit group of friends who she adored very much and enriched her life. She also enjoyed giving back to the community donating her time to those in need and was a mentor to students at Williston Central School. Kathy is survived by her two sons, Ryan K. Lerner of New York City, N.Y., and Mark T. Lerner of San Diego, Calif.; four brothers and their spouses, Howard and Julianne Shea of Easton, N.Y., Peter and Karen Shea of Postenkill, N.Y., Timothy and Kim Shea of Salem, N.Y., and Mark and Lisa Shea of Bennington; several nieces and nephews; and her companion George Graham of Champlain, N.Y. Kathy was predeceased by her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 23, 2009, at 1 p.m., in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, South Burlington.
